Understanding What The Three Main Types Of Lift Chair Are

Posted on

Lift chairs are available with all sorts of different design and functionality features. However, every lift chair out there will typically fall under one of three types.

When you're getting started deciding on the right lift chair for your needs, it's important to understand what the three main types are and to decide which one is best for your unique needs.

The following are the three main categories of lift chair from among which you'll need to choose.

The two-position option

A two-position lift chair is designed so that it can recline with a backrest in addition to offering a normal sitting position. In addition to their reclining backrest, these lift chairs typically also feature a footrest that flips out.

Those looking for the least expensive lift chair out there are likely to find that two-position lift chairs are best for their needs. Because they are simpler and smaller than other lift chair types, two-position lift chairs generally tend to be the lift chair type that is priced lowest.

Another advantage that the two-position option offers is the fact that two-position chairs fit into a smaller space than other models. One drawback that's worth noting is that two-position chairs are not always comfortable for napping in even thought they offer comfortable seating for activities like watching television or reading.

The three-position option

Three-position lift chairs are like two-position chairs except that they provide the added benefit of being able to offer an almost flat surface that is better for napping. Three-position lift chairs are a lot like standard recliners except for the fact that they also offer the lift chair characteristic of helping the individual into the chair easily from a standing position.

More luxurious three-position lift chairs often feature built-in massage and heating capabilities that increase the comfort that they offer.

The infinite-position option

The third type of lift chair is the infinite position lift chair. This type of chair is generally considered to be the most complex and luxurious option.

This type of life chair will almost always include a massage and heat feature. It will also be adjustable to a flat position for sleeping. Because this type of lift chair has a dual motor setup, individuals using the chair can position both the backrest and the footrest in any position they please.

Because they offer so many comfort features, infinite-position chairs are ideal for those who will be spending a large part of their time in their lift chair.

They are particularly beneficial to those who are suffering from conditions like hypotension. They help with this condition because they make it possible for the chair user to elevate the feet up above the head to help with circulation issues related to hypotension.
